The STEAMING LIZARDS OF SIN

Who is SLoS?

Steve and Kevin: The original Steaming Lizards of Sin

The STEAMING LIZARDS OF SIN (SLoS) is the name for the S&N Films' house band.  Originally formed in the early 90's, Steve and Kevin wrote and recorded "Weird Al" Yankovic style parodies of 90’s grunge and alternative songs, as well as Spinal Tap-esque parodies of the hard-rock and metal scene.

Since those humble origins, SLoS has redirected songwriting efforts to focus on authoring soundtracks for independent films.  Additionally, Kevin has worked on a number of other music projects over the years, including Chemical Blue and Minor Fetish.

And the name?  Steve and Kevin were part of the editorial staff of their high school literary magazine back in the early 90's, and as such were part of a group that had a go/no-go vote on submissions for the literary magazine.  This required that Steve and Kevin, along with the rest of the magazine's staff, had to read EVERYTHING that was submitted by their fellow students

To contrast (read: “goof on”) the massive influx of flowery poems of love and happiness, or the nobody-loves-me-and-now-its-raining poems, Steve wrote and submitted such literary pieces as "Satan is my Soul Brother" and a brilliant haiku entitled “Life in a Burlap Sack”.  The following is one of the stanzas from "Satan is my Soul Brother":

I'm a bloody hell-monkey
A steaming lizard of sin
Fiery gates of evil spawn terror
I dismember and grin.

While the stanza sounds horrific out of context, something about the poem resonated with Steve and Kevin, and eventually they turned the poem into a song, adopting the moniker Steaming Lizards of Sin as the name of their band.  This name was quickly shortened to SLoS in much the same manner as "God What a Racket" became "GWAR".

Curiously, “Life in a Burlap Sack" was never put to music.
